Lots of things have happened.

So sorry its been so long since I last wrote in my blog.  It has just been so hectic at work.  You would think that teaching ECE for the second year I would already have my lesson plans from last year.  Well I have multiple grades so some of the learners from last year are with me again, and I don’t like giving the same media to them again, so it is like planning a whole new year again.

And then don’t forget the outing, functions, and teachers trainings.  I suppose its not an excuse but I like to think it is.  And besides, you now get a longer blog to read.

We celebrated Vivian’s birthday with her, the day before,  by taking her out to lunch for a hot pot.  Kathy also came with us.  We had all gone to the market earlier that day, and on the way back phoned Vivian and told her to meet us at the restaurant.

We had training as well at school and I presented ‘How to make an iMovie’ to all the teachers.  I think it went off well and hopefully the teachers went off having learnt something.

We also have a new teacher at our school.  I don’t know if I have mentioned it before.  Her name is Hannah and she is Korean.  She is our librarian and music teacher.  Her husband is American, and they have 2 beautiful daughters, who are both in my class.  Well we invited them and Kathy to dinner.  Paul made a divine starter, main, and dessert.  The 2 little girls, Abby and Haley were very comfortable in our home, which was nice, and even settled on the couch to watch Rio 2.  It was an enjoyable evening.

Our marketing lady, Jiana, surprised us all by resigning from work as she had planned to get married and start a family.  But her fiancé had been transferred to another city in China and she had to move there with him after there marriage with they had in Korea.  So we had a little farewell party at school for her, then the ladies at school went out afterwards to 1996 to say goodbye and celebrate her getting married.  It was a wonderful evening.

When you are so far away from ‘home’ you never want to get any bad news.  Well it happened to us.  Uncle Nick had passed away.  Our hearts are very sore at the loss of a wonderful and caring man.  Thanks to the families permission, we were able to skype the funeral service for some closure.  RIP Uncle Nick.

Kathy spoilt us and took us to a Japanese restaurant for supper.  It was really good.  Thankfully the tables that are so close to the floor had a sunken floor underneath it so we didn’t have to sit crossed legged.  We walked there and back, but I must say, the weather is really cold now.

It is the first time that we have celebrated thanksgiving at school.  It was set up like a dinner theatre.  The children did a short performance at school called ‘Stone Soup’.  Afterwards there was eats galore.  We had ‘pot luck’ as the Americans call it, we call it a ‘bring and share’.  Then the school provided some really yummy turkeys and the drinks.  I tried my best at doing the table décor.  Seemed to have turned out all right.  The children and parents had a blast.

We then one weekend decided to go to the market to buy some Christmas shopping for some décor for my classroom.  We went with Vivian and Kathy.  Well thank goodness Vivian came with us, because we walked away with some wonderful bargains.

After the shopping spree at the market we treated Kathy and Vivian to Mac Donalds.  It is so great having western food and spending it with special friends.

Then I went into school on the Sunday to decorate my classroom to surprise the children for Monday.

We found a service provider that sells cheese, butter, cream, cream cheese, and the best of all is that they deliver to your doorstep.  So we bought quite a bit and Paul did some baking.  Well a lot of baking.  And we decided to invite the teachers and Daisy to our apartment for high tea.  Well they thoroughly enjoyed themselves.  Oh yes, we have another new Chinese teacher at school in our ECE classroom.  Her name is Ning Ning and she will be going with me to Year 1 next  academic year.

Well that’s it for now.  Till next time.  I promise I wont keep you all waiting that long till I write again.
