A Busy Weekend 2

Today we went to meet Kathy outside the KFC at RB Mart. This has really become a landmark for us to meet everyone.

We then went to a winter expo. It was interesting.

Of course we were the centre of attention again. And as usual when we are looking at a stall, all the Chinese people want to be in there as well and also buy stuff so they can be near or just want to hear this foreigner. I need to make a deal with them so we can get our commission in attracting the locals to buy their goods.

We then met Vivian there and she went around bargaining for us. And we got some good bargains. (Beijing here we come-nice and warm.)

Vivian also introduced us to her father who had his own stall at the expo. I cant believe he is only 46 years old. We bought some porcelain knives from him and we also received a gift from Vivian. (If anyone wants some porcelain items, I know Vivian will gladly assist with this. And it is of very good quality.)

Then Vivian took us all out to lunch at a Chinese restaurant.

Walking to lunch.

It was very interesting and delicious as well. As you will see in the photos below, she ordered some lamb and beef, fish balls, soya meat slices, shrimp balls, and vegetables - which included mushrooms, potatoes, compressed rice, bokchoi, and she also ordered two plates of beef dumplings.

So the pot in the middle of the table is heated with a convection plate and one half is plain stock and the other is seasoned with chili.

Then she took the meat, a plate at a time, and put half in the hot stock and half in the normal stock. It takes about 30 seconds and it is cooked. While you wait you can mix your sauce in a small bowl - the options were - nut sauce, shrimp sauce, chili sauce, some other Chinese green sauce, crushed nuts, chopped chillies. Then you take outs some meat and dip into the sauce and eat.

The mess after lunch.

It was yum. So we ate the meat first, then the vegetables, and then the fish. We were also given free bottomless juice. One thing about the juice and water at all the restaurants here in Rizhao, is that it is served warm. They believe that drinking cold liquids is bad for their health. Thank you Vivian for a great day.
