Well as I said before, I only went back to school on the Thursday last week as that is when my Principal came back from Hong Kong.
I started at 8am and finished at 4:30pm. We went with Chloe to open Chinese bank accounts. After that we went back to the building where we are temporally in and the principal took me to go and see the new school building.
All I can say is WOW.
It is state of the art. My classroom, or should I say all the classrooms, are 4x bigger than the one I had at PJPS. They are enormous. We also have a huge library, dining hall and kitchen. And a lot of offices for all the admin staff. It really looks good. But the hard work is now only beginning. Helen and I, and maybe another teacher from America, have to decorate and make the school look attractive to invite parents to come and look at the school. But I am eager and can't wait to get in there and get started.
I stayed at the office for lunch and Chloe bought me lunch. It was a local take away, interesting but scary at the same time. They first drink soup, which is a clear mirky looking water, which didn't suit my palate. Then there was 5 sections in the next container which had deep fried chicken pieces, a mixed cabbage lentils pepper chili salad, nice, and pork with a lot more fat than meat, sweet fish with bones in still, and a large quantity of rice. Well I only manage to eat a little and when it was time to throw away our containers they were like, but you haven't eaten anything. I had to insist I was full and that we are small eaters. And seriously, where do these people put all the food they eat. Fascinating. It is also interesting sitting in a room full of Chinese people and listening to them talk. Eating with their mouths full in not rude or burping even if its over someone else. I really gotta get used to that.
I think I mentioned it in the other post, but we have to learn not to want to use the toilets when going out or we have to be prepared to use the holes in the floor.
Anyway, next time I will post something about the food we have either experienced or what we can buy.
