LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE
On the 14 August 2013 it was Valentines day in China. The story goes that a girl and a boy fell in love and one day had to be separated, live very far away from each other, and so they met each other only once a year. This day became Valentines day in China.
On this day we were woken up at 5:30am with fireworks going off. And not these play play fireworks we buy in SA. I thought we were being attacked, they were so loud.
Then we went with Chloe to apply for our residency permit. While she was busy we went to the Shar Ma Ter (My Spelling) Shopping Centre for a breakfast at KFC. While we were there a gentleman approached Paul and asked him to buy a rose for his lady - Sarah. Ha Ha. He told him that Sarah was his daughter and the gentleman told Paul he didn't look old enough to be a dad. WOW. Paul loved that. He bought 2 roses ( 10RMB each).
When we got back to the government department that does our residency permits, we told
Chloe who explained about the reason for Valentines day. Then she said (which really bogs my mind), that a daughter is the father previous lover reincarnated. MAN WHAT CAN I SAY TO THAT.
A picture of a rose Paul bought me and a picture of the flowers that men were carrying around with them that day for their girlfriends / wives. This was Chloe's from her fiance'. They were delivered to the office.
Each rose was individually wrapped and had gold glitter sprinkled on it.
On this day it is good to get married as it is a good luck. And that is what the fireworks were for. Preparing the way for the bridal couple. So it goes off in the morning, then when the bridge and groom arrive at the reception and then again when they leave. They do get married months before the actual wedding day. On the wedding day the groom has to fetch his wife from her parents house and then take her back to his place where he has cooked a variety of foods which they eat and also play games. Then at a certain time they leave for the reception where their guests are waiting for them. Chloe is getting married in October and so far she says they have booked 38x10 seater tables for their guests. WOW.
This is a pic of the hotel across the road that hosted the reception for one of the weddings that day.
And this a video of the fireworks. We recorded it especially for the noise. It was so loud that the big bangs couldn't record properly on the phone and landed up being a shhhhh noise when they went off.
Enjoy.

Wow some really strange beliefs hey. If a man has lots of daughters does that mean he had lots of lovers in his previous life!!!
