As you can imagine, from all the excitement of meeting up with family and walking more than we had walked before, and Anton and Sanchia being tired from their flight, we slept in a bit. We are on holiday after all.
Once we woke, got ready and chatted in between, we were ready to go. We took a long walk around the hutongs, and shopped and did some sightseeing. Our feet had to be accustomed to walking.
Then Stephen took us to the Wangfujing Night Market by subway, which is a must to all that visit Beijing. There are literally hundreds of little stalls with goods for sale, and you can bargain, and some weird and wonderful food to eat. From scorpions, hissing cockroaches, starfish, lizards, sea horses, donkey testicles, and then some scrumptious food such as caramelized fruit, fried dumplings, lamb shank. It was very crowded and we had to keep an eye on each other as not to loose each other.

A Chinese Santa. Ha Ha
Some statues along the walkway.
Anton not sure he is in China as there is no street fighting as you see in the movies.

Roasted birds.
It was weird eating it but very tasty.
Fried dumplings above and all sorts of meat and seafood on a stick.
More fried dumplings with various fillings.
Lamb shanks. mmmmm!
Sarah enjoying her lamb shank.
Sanchia and Kerry enjoying the caramelized fruit.
Once we finished at the market we went and had coffee at a little coffee bar. So we could warm ourselves up. Then when we decided to go back to the hotel the subway was closed and we had to walk home. We walked about what felt like 15km to get back. It was freezing.
