Beijing 24/12/2013 - Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve and we decided to go to the Beijing Zoo today.  Mainly to see a live Panda Bear.  So we were up early and took the subway to the zoo.  Which has a stop 'Beijing Zoo' and you get off right outside the zoo.  (I am starting to like the subway - except when it is crowded).

After we entered we first went to see the Pandas.

 Too excited.

 Beautiful

 Scratching its bum.

 Beautiful

I did feel sorry for them though. But being winter it did look a bit dreary.

Also, the warmer climate animals were all inside in small enclosures.

 The entrance to 'The Wild'

It is very big and has a variety of animals and birds.  Yes believe it or not, the normal rooster was on display as well.

Some mad bird of prey that kept charging at Paul trying to protect its food.

It also had 'Swan Lake' literally.

 Diving into the water.
Beautiful

These ducks were walking on the ice.
The duck below was enjoying playing in the water.

It took us nearly all day at the zoo as it is so big.

It was freezing cold, but we enjoyed each others company.

Having some coffee to warm ourselves up before we carry on.

After going back by subway we went back to the hotel and ate there.  We then went for a stroll around the hutongs and once we were freezing cold, we landed up at starbucks (very expensive) to warm ourselves up.
