Yes we did go to the Great Wall on April Fools day. And know it is not a joke.
Marco hired a private tour for us to go through to the Great Wall of China. So I was looking out for a venture to pick us up to take us there. Well it landed up us being the only ones on a bus. Ha Ha. But it was comfortable that way.
We had a tour guide Zoe. She was fantastic and spoke wonderful English. Nikki if I am not mistaken, I think this was the highlight for Nikki.
Zoe explained everything to us and walked with us the whole way, even to the top of the Wall. We had to go up by cable chair. Paul went up alone with Liam's carry back pack, Sarah and I were together, Zoe went with Nikki and Nikki had Liam on her lap, Marco and Tamika went together. As you know you stand on a certain spot and the chair scoops you up, then when you get to the top the chair doesn't stop so you have to jump off quickly and half run to the sides so the chair can go past. Well poor Niks looked like she was about to die with fright. But hey sis, you managed.
We walked the opposite way on the wall to the last time we were there. And it was a lot easier. There are not as many stairs (still a lot though), not as steep and a lot of the way is paved without stairs. The views are awesome and the Mayflower trees were in bloom. It was a fantastic day.
On our way down we went on the toboggans. Yes the two little ones sat on Niks and Marco's laps. It was an awesome experience. We were not allowed to have our cellphones out and we were not allowed sunglasses on. So no photos were taken. A pity. And I promise that next time I will go a bit faster. Ha Ha.
On the way back from The Great Wall we were taken to the Government Tea House and were shown how tea is serves Chinese style. We were given a sample of four different teas. All of which have different health properties. Then we headed back to the hotel.
After bathing the children we headed out for some supper. We decided to go to Grandmas for supper. Well it was divine. No wonder when you get there, there is a very long queue waiting to get inside. But it is huge inside with four main rooms. The food was great and the atmosphere was very relaxed. I think I have found my favourite restaurant.
